Dr. John Ciccarello, PT, DPT, OCS

Board Certified – Orthopedic Clinical Specialist / Dry Needling Specialist

Education:

John graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1998 with a degree in Civil Engineering—what he now jokingly calls “physical therapy, but for buildings.” After 13 years of active Army service, he was accepted into the Army-Baylor Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy, earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2014. He became a board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2017 and then achieved the highest possible credential from the McKenzie Institute, becoming a Diplomate in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) in 2022.

Professional Role & Specialties:

With more than a decade’s experience in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation, John specializes in treating spinal and lower extremity conditions—particularly in athletic and active populations. His blends targeted rehabilitation exercises, strength training, and aerobic conditioning with common-sense adjustments to lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, and stress management. He also incorporates specialized techniques including manual therapy, blood flow restriction training, and dry needling. John is passionate about helping patients not only recover from injury but also unlocking their full potential for healthy longevity.

Fun Facts:

John served nearly three decades in the U.S. Army as an Infantry, Special Forces, and Medical Specialist Corps officer. At home, his music preferences are happily shaped by his three daughters’ Spotify playlists. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys time on the trails or the water—often with his spouse, daughters, or two dogs (though never all at once!). He competes year-round in masters rowing, obstacle course racing, and trail running.
